My Pebble Replacement!

So, yay as per the title, I got a replacement pebble from pebble! Why? Because I went to swim with it with the first pebble and guess what, the PCB got fried. I suspect water went in while I was swimming despite having a 5ATM(5 times the atmospheric pressure, about 50m vertically down)

So, immediately, I sent an email to pebble asking for a solution to at least to fix it.

Then boomz, without much question, they agreed to replaced one for me! Filled in some of my shipping and 1 week later, here we go..

Yay! It's here, the replacement Pebble!

Yay! It’s here, the replacement Pebble!

Pebble SmartWatch

So, this is it.. days after I got myself the iPhone 6 Plus, I proceeded to get this for myself!

Pebble SmartWatch!

It’s the smart watch that was funded through Kickstarter and raised over 10 Million USD!

To be honest, I was one already looking at it when they released it on kickstarter for about 99 USD(selling for 150USD after that) but I felt that it was too expensive and little stupid, but I thought that the idea was quite awesome! So I backed them up with 1 USD -_- Still support ma! 10Million of 1USD is 10 Million USD ok! Mai Siao Siao!

So long story short, here I am with the watch! Tada!

Hey Beauty

Hey Beauty

There’s also a few color to choose from, Red, Black, Orange, Grey and some other limited edition color including the Steel edition.

Time

Time

Some people say it’s stupid, but hey, it’s really useful!

Some of the major functions of this watch, apart from telling time, is that it push all your notification(text messages, whatsapp, e-mail, Skype, etc) from your devices to it.

One really good example is that while i was BBQ-ing just now, and someone whatsapp me, guess what? I read it, not important, reply later 😉 Then another call came, guess what? Not important, I muted that caller 😉
All without the Phone leaving my pocket.

However, I’ve heard some complaint that android does not push as well as iOS does it. So, check that out on your own =P

It can also control your music player, track fitness, play some games on it, and many more! The possibility are endless!

Overall why you should get this,

1. Push Notification
2. Music Control
3.Creative/Classy Watch Face
4.Fitness Tracker
5.Looks Awesome
6.Price is quite reasonable now compared to the other smart watches

I had been waiting for Singtel to have stock again, for about 1 month now, and finally one day my brother woke me up at 7am jumping for joy!

Space Grey!

Space Grey!

A few reason why i chose the iPhone 6 Plus over the iPhone 6 is because i felt that,

  1. The battery life!
    • Mainly the battery! It’s twice the size of the iPhone 6! ’nuff said
    • On top of that, the M8 is much more efficient then that of the previous generations, which contributes to it’s battery life with “Talk time: Up to 24 hours on 3G“!
  2. The 5.5″ screen-size
    • Due to the massive jump from the smaller screen size from it’s predecessor, it really appeals to me.
    • The screen size is also 1920 X 1080 @ 401ppi!(But bigger screen ma, obviously more then the iPhone 6)
  3. The #BendGate shit is not true!
    • Fine, it’s true to a certain extend, but at that size, all phone bend! But because they’re mainly made out of plastic, they’re more flexible! You know, bendy bend bend. So don’t be a !@#$%^ and put your phone in your back pocket and then forgot all about it and then sit on it. Anyone that weights a 100kg, sits on anything will break too!

Road Trip In Thailand (Part 2, Video)

So, after a few weeks after we return from the road trip in Thailand two month back, we finally had the time to sit together and put the videos together. It certainly brings back lots of fun memories as we’re editing, looking back at some of the funny and silly footage. HAHA.. I really hope you’ll enjoy watching it as much as I do, travelling, editing and watching them.

Road Trip in Thailand

Smile, Bitch

Smile, Bitch

No. of cities covered: 3
Total distance covered :1994.8km
Total trip duration(on the roads):~28 hours
Car driven: Nissan Almera 1.2 VCVT
Total petrol consumed:~200l(E20)

And so, we’re off to an awesome road trip in thailand in search for the legendary(literally) mountain called Pu Chi Fa. It’s a very, very beautiful place, over looking the clouds and the sun rises, as it rise, it warms your cheeks. Meanwhile, on one hand, you’re sipping slowly on your coffee and on the other, you’re setting the correct aperture, shutter speed and ISO.  But…

So once we landed, first things first, the car. Online, we got a Honda Brio 1.2(or similar). So I went to read up on all the reviews and all got myself excited about it, after collecting it, we got ourselves a Nissian Amera 1.2.. I was a little disappointed at first, but in the end, it’s not too bad! From a hatchback to a sedan! But at least It still gets us moving!

Anyway, the plan was to travel from Bangkok(BKK) to Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai to Pu Chi Fa back to Chiang Rai back to Chiang Mai finally back to Bangkok.

From BKK to Chiang Mai is approx. 700km

Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai is approx. 200km

Chiang Rai to Pu Chi Fa is approx. 120km

Fuel is fairly okay, at about 30l for approx. 1100B(one full tank on the Amera is 40l, but we usually top it up once it reaches 10l) and can take us for about 500km

Nissan Amera

Very clean interior, well maintain and the car looks new(but can’t say the same when we returned it -_-)

And our buddy, Google

And our buddy, Google

Live saver! Brought us literally everywhere in Thailand! Once we landed, we got ourselves a TrueMobile 3G data simcard. It’s very very cheap due to some promotion only 69B for 7 days unlimited but we managed to screw that up and wasted an additional 49B so, what the heck.

Apparently, based on the locals, if you’re going into the countryside, True/AIS works the best(proven).

Clock Tower in Chiang Rai

Clock Tower in Chiang Rai

Then we heard that at every 7pm, 8pm and 9pm, there’ll be a “clock performance”. Basically it’s just a music blasting from the tower with accompanying lighting to go with it, so we got some beers and sat along the ledge and waited for it. As the time gets nearer, more and more people appeared, and it gets real cozy, feels very warm and awesome with mixed local and tourist.

The next day, we woke up at 3am, get ready and set off for Pu Chi Fa at 4am?

And after a long a tedious drive towards the mountain, we had to tackle the super steep and windy roads. Reached there at about 6am, hoping to see the sunrise which is at 5:55am, but the clouds are too thick.. The light rays can’t even pass through -.- let alone the “sea of clouds” we’re suppose to see. We even brought our photographic gears, tripod ND filter, CPL filter, shutter, etc but end up didn’t even shoot much. LOL

After descending down, we’ve decided to spend a few hours in Chiang Rai, since we’re already here. We went to the White Temple, very very nice place, the whole temple is literally white. While on the way to Chiang Mai, the rain was BAD, visibility was like 10m. Thankfully I was not the one driving, I was the one cuddling up in my jacket and my neck pillow as we increased the temperature in the car.. how awesome(for me) HAHA!

200B per day!

200B per day!

So YOLO we rent a scooter(Honda Click) Many EPIC SHIT THINGS HAPPENED and wanted to ride towards the waterfall, when we realized that it’s way too far-.- 32km away and that would take us many many hours on the scooter, so we decided to scrape it, and just tour around the area in the bike. Only 200B(8SGD) per day

Head back down to bangkok, eat and walked around and preparing for our last day in Thailand tomorrow.

Bangkok

Bangkok

The forever busy street in BKK. Even we were affected by it. took longer then expected to reach every destination. Even when returning the car, we were delayed by 30mins due to traffic jam and police checks. But it’s all fun trying hard to persuade the lady that it’s the jam fault and all. We’re suppose to pay for another day worth if we’re late. HAHA

Rosti – Own Interpretation

Ok, so there’re very little recipe on rosti online. But the way i see it, it looks pretty simple. So i’ve decided to make my own version of rosti based on this picture below.

Easy Pisy.

1) Grab some potatoes and skin them, then grate them (But if you’re like me, who doesn’t have a grater, just use the freakin knife and “grate” it la)

2) Add a reasonable amount of butter to your non-stick pan (But if you’re like me, who doesn’t have a non-stick pan, just suck it up and be prepared to not that that perfect “pancake” effect. But I have a cheat for it)

3) Pour in the grated potatoes and let it seat for awhile, until you feel that the bottom is golden-brown. Then hold the pan up and jerk it to flip side(difficulty level: 8/10) – (Sadly, mine sticked to the pan and I can’t even move the potatoes -.- So i’ve decided to “stir-fry” it and now it looks messed up)

4) Once both side is golden brown, transferred it to a plate, and cook that egg and put it on top. DONEEEEEE!

'Online's Rosti'

‘Online’s Rosti’

But what I do, since i do not have a perfect “pancake” rosti, I arranged it in the “pancake” shape myself ;(((((((( Then i crack a raw egg in the middle, add some cheddar cheese by the side, and sent it into the oven for another 10mins.

It's DELICIOUS!!

It’s DELICIOUS!!

Turns out, it actually tasted good, with the runny yolk spreading all over and from oven-ing it, the potatoes now has a layer of crispness, integrated together with the cheese.

Good lunch is good!

Corn Salad & Spaghetti

So apparently my house has this instant spaghetti seasoning lying around for a while and since I took of today, i’ve decided to whip up this to try(Since almost anything i’ve always eaten with full Japanese words on is always good! HAHA)

"Instant seasoning"

“Instant seasoning”

Although I can’t read, but it’s pretty easy to understand(based on the picture)

-Boil Pasta
-Add Olive oil(included)
-Add Seasoning

And we’re done!

Very simple dish to make!

Very simple dish to make!

True enough, it’s really really good. It’s actually Aglio Olio(Jap style)
Garlic, Olive oil, Parsley, Red cilli flakes tossed together.

Corn Salad

Corn Salad

So I wanted to have another easy dish to go with the spaghetti, and I got inspired by the food that SFI(Singapore Food Industries) have provided a few days back, and it’s CORN!!

Did a few research and bamp! came across this “corn salad” on Martha Stewart and looks deliciously awesome!
Tweak the “recipe” slightly as some of the ingredient is harder to find in NTUC -_-

  • 2 packages (10 ounces each) frozen corn kernels, thawed and patted dry ✓
  • 1 medium red bell pepper (ribs and seeds removed), finely chopped ✓
  • 1 small jalapeno chile (ribs and seeds removed for less heat, if desired), finely chopped ✗ Can’t find them in NTUC
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander ✗ Lazy to find
  • 1/3 cup Lemon Vinaigrette ✓
  • coarse salt and ground pepper ✗ Forgot to add

Added Avocado and Tomato on my own. Anything with avocado taste good!

Dig in!!

Dig in!!

Very happy with today’s brunch! Everything we according as planned! Muahahaha!

Entering Sea Aquarium

So last friday(13/12) was my squadron family day!!

And so we went the Sea Aquarium and Adventure Cove

Initially i was having high hopes of the Sea Aquarium.. but when i reach there, i was quite disappointed with it.

I finished the whole thing in under 1 hour or less.

Except for the world’s largest window to the ocean measuring 36 metres wide by 8.3 metres high by 70cm thick.

With that, it’s the official record holder of two Guinness World Records – it is the world’s largest aquarium and has the world’s largest acrylic panel in its Ocean Gallery.

My NS Story

Testing how i looking in the new uniform =P

Testing how i looking in the new uniform

In a blink of an eye, 3 month(going 4 month) has passed from a recruit to now, a private.

As far as i’m concern , National Service had been very F-U-N for me.

Doing very unexpected things, like studying (-.-)  and I thought i can put engineering behind me after i graduate from Ngee Ann. Oh well

First book out!

First book out!

I must really say that my journey since i enlist has been very very bizarre. Bizarrely good.

Contrary to popular belief, people goes to tekong and suffer and lead a dog life and do all sorts of nonsense(Haha, it’s my own belief actually(adding what i’ve heard with my own imagination))

But ok la, got some truth in it though.

But I’m proud to say, i’ve broke all those belief and myths!!

HAHA!

Book in lo

Book in lo

Journey goes like this.

Tekong(Going through Basic Military Training) —> Air Force Training Command(Training as a Air Force Technician) –> Tengah Air Base(As an F-16 Electrical & Instrument Specialist(at least that what i call myself))

I was given a PES C status after the medical review with CMPB. However, despite a PES C status, I too, like the rest, i’ve to attend a 9-weeks BMT at tekong, just that mine would be a 9-weeks(modified).

Uhm you know, it’s basically the same BMT, except with special care catered to us, like we can’t do running, jumping, games and basically any other ‘tedious’ activities. LOLOL!

First self-portrait after shaving!

First self-portrait after shaving!

4th coy Platoon 3!

4th coy Platoon 3!

Oh yeah.. everyone looked the same.

So how this BMT is modified, is that we spend 4 week in tekong and 4 other weeks in the respective training centres(there’s a few of them like STC(Supply And Transport Centre, OETI AND AFTC(Air Force Training Centre)

Although it is really a very short 4 weeks, but I made a point to at least talked to everyone that is in the platoon. I think I did talk and know a little about everyone. Trust me, they’re very nice people. Everyone is nice.  It’s a great place to be in.

Platoon 3 Section 1

Platoon 3 Section 1

Among the platoon, these people are my section mates. They are the one you share the room with. Whutttt. Without them, I also don’t think that my day would passed so fast and easily. I really had fun sticking out together with them.

And right after the 4 weeks in tekong, I was quite lucky to be able to be posted to AFTC as a Air Force Technician.
Would really love to show you guys some photos. But sorry. Red zone. No camera phone allowed.

The culture there is totally different from army, or at least tekong I must say.
But aiyo. All we did was study everyday. Haha. We even had exams. Hur hur hur -_-

So apart from studying, we also had to practice our marching for our passing out ceremony. Because we do not participate like the 24km route march and stuff, we won’t be going for the usual passing out parade at the floating platform.
